Desire for humanity in one word?: Liberation
What issue concerns you in today's society?: Inequality. Lack of knowledge. Lack of spirituality. Being blinded from reality.
What are you doing to make your desire for humanity a reality?: I am teaching dance through an African centered lens. Through this lens I am teaching the history of Hip-Hop dance, the culture, and how it ties into African Ideologies, I am teaching spirituality, the power of community, and the awareness of self with faith in these teachings leading to a sense of liberation of the mind, body and spirit which would help solve our issue of inequality in the world. Dance is simply a tool for me to bring people together so they can celebrate life together through dance, grow together as people, and learn from each other within realizing we are all one and that we can help each other reach liberation together.
How does your desire address what concerns you in todays society?: My desire for liberation addresses the concern of our mind, body, and soul connection being disconnected. We are mental slaves to this world we live in. We are fed things that are toxic to our bodies, disruptive of our soul and are a distraction from our mind. It's difficult for us to move forward because everything we are being fed is meant to keep us trapped in this system of separation and unawareness of the power of self knowledge and the power of community which leads to the inequalities we have with each other.
